ANA ILLUECA: Pottery with Mediterranean Stories Transcending their Physical Limits

Creativity, tact, tale and Mediterranean. Ana Illueca is a Valencian potter who reflects human tension in pieces executed around the search for identity, human relations, their evolution and their transformation.

Through pottery, an art that vibrates in our veins and carries with it centuries of legacy, Ana explores the good life, the warm weather and the culture and tradition of the Mediterranean. Its shapes and colours are nourished by this passion that defends the life character at the shore, the originality of the periphery, the richness of local identity made up of many destinations, creating unique pieces that tell the story of successive and coexisting civilisations and cultures.

With creativity as the driving force, Illueca also stands out as a finalist in the 2018 Pottery Innovation Award, granted by the Crafts Centre of the Valencian Region.

Likewise, through the project she directs, ADN Cerámico, Illueca works for the benefit of the pottery community in her region. A project driven by the World Design Capital Valencia 2022 with the main goal of showing that Valencia has good design, as it has historically had and continues to have good designing hands.
