JAIME HAYÓN: “Creativity isn’t just painting or drawing, it’s about seeing the world in a different way.”
Labelled as one of the most visionary and creative icons by the TIME magazine, Jaime Hayón from Madrid is the country’s most internationally renowned designer. He has held his creative base in Valencia for over a decade. His love for our vibrant city of cutting-edge spirit and craftmanship grew from his close collaboration with Lladró.
Trained industrial designer and winner of the 2021 National Design Award, Hayón doesn’t see himself as an in-use designer, but a creator whose art goes beyond any discipline.
With the nonconformist approach of a child, he creates colourful, ground-breaking, fantastic, fun pieces, filled with humour and life. They make us dream of other worlds and remind us that anything is possible, and that these possibilities will take us further.
“In the end, it’s creativity that saves us. Creativity isn’t just painting or drawing, it’s about seeing the world in a different way. And I got to where I am now because my philosophy has always been to experiment, try and believe. And to have fun while doing so.”
His artistic vision was displayed for the first time in the “Mediterranean Digital Baroque” and “Mon Cirque” exhibitions. These collections put Jaime at the forefront of a new wave that blurred the lines between art, decoration and design, and brought new life to intricate and finely crafted objects within the context of contemporary design culture.
It is such an honour that Hayón has chosen Valencia as his home.
